The mining ghost town on Independence. This is a very cool little place with restoration/preservation efforts going on. I couldn't help but be amazed at the people who would travel what would have been dangerous dirt tracks at such high altitude, and settle in a place so far removed from civilization, in such a difficult (though beautiful) environment for the sake of gold. They had to have been rough, tough, hard, determined individuals.
