The mining ghost town on Independence. This is a very cool little place with restoration/preservation efforts going on. I couldn't help but be amazed at the people who would travel what would have been dangerous dirt tracks at such high altitude, and settle in a place so far removed from civilization, in such a difficult (though beautiful) environment for the sake of gold. They had to have been rough, tough, hard, determined individuals. They weren't college professors, software developers, or financial analysts, but they were the ones who built the West. by run2themountains
