Charles Lief has one distinct memory of Naropa's first summer in Boulder — the carpet. That summer of 1974, classes were held in a downtown Boulder bus maintenance warehouse. To cover the oil drips on the ground, Naropa leaders purchased yards and yards of the cheapest carpet they could find.
