The defense rested their case Thursday in the sentencing phase for Brandon Daniel's capital murder trial, but before closing arguments could begin, the state called a rebuttal witness to reiterate what they believe is Daniel's lack of remorse for killing Austin Police Officer Jaime Padron in April 2012.
